Job description

NUS Libraries invites applications for the position of Research Librarian - Law (Assistant Librarian / Librarian / Senior Librarian/Principal Librarian). This position will be part of the Education, Research and Enterprise Partnership Cluster, which aims to drive innovative services for influential research, quality education, and visionary enterprise.

The Law Librarian will provide dedicated research support and specialized library services to the Faculty of Law at NUS, enhancing legal research capabilities, supporting curriculum delivery, and ensuring access to a robust and relevant legal collection. Key responsibilities include developing and teaching legal research programs, offering customized research consultations, and fostering interdisciplinary initiatives that align with NUS Libraries’ mission to drive impactful research and quality education.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develop and build partnerships with NUS Faculty of Law to provide library programmes and services.
  2. Develop, implement, assess, and manage the legal research programmes, including teaching the legal research component of the Year 1 legal research and writing course, and advanced legal research in Upper Year or graduate research tutorials.
  3. Provide customized research consultations, workshops, and talks for different user groups.
  4. Develop and implement new interdisciplinary or library-wide programmes and services.
  5. Develop and maintain a robust and relevant legal collection to meet the teaching and research needs of NUS.
  6. Create and update learning resources such as library research guides and digital learning objects to accelerate self-directed learning.
  7. Establish partnerships with stakeholders to deliver library programmes in curriculum and research in innovative ways, incorporating existing and emerging technology and tools in teaching and learning.
  8. Maintain a strong understanding of research matters such as open access, publishing trends, and research visibility and impact in the context of higher education.
  9. Keep abreast of trends and developments by participating in professional development activities and contributing to librarianship through writing and presenting on various platforms.
  10. Collaborate with colleagues from other library clusters to drive cross-cluster collaborations and projects to enhance library services, innovation, and knowledge transfer for impact.
  11. Lead or contribute to the strategic growth and development of NUS Libraries' services, spaces, and collection.
  12. Other related tasks, as assigned.
