Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Research Fellow to join our research team on the project titled "An Integrated Multimodal Quantification Method to Designing Landscapes for Well-being". This project aims to extend upon previously developed innovative methodologies for assessing urban green spaces for their human well-being potentials through the integration of various quantitative and qualitative research approaches. In this project, we intend to further improve on these methods with an eventual goal of guiding and informing the design of urban landscapes in a Singapore with a specific goal of maximising their benefits to human well-being.

We intend to achieve this through a multimodal approach with the help of our interdisciplinary research team comprising of experts from collaborating institutes which cover the technical aspects of computational modelling, brain-computer interface technologies as well as within NUS focusing on design and application from the lens of landscape architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in managing and executing the research project.
  • Conduct literature reviews, data collection, and analysis using multimodal research methodologies.
  • Design and implement experiments related to landscape perception, human well-being, and environmental assessment.
  • Extend previously developed computational tools and models for and apply them in landscape analysis.
  • Coordinate research activities, including participant recruitment and ethical compliance.
  • Prepare research reports, presentations, and academic publications.
  • Manage project budgeting, procurement, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members from partner institutes.
  • Assist in supervising research assistants and graduate students where applicable.
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination through conferences, workshops, and seminars.

Qualifications:

  • A doctoral certificate (PhD or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Science, Urban Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong research background in environmental design, human well-being, and quantitative assessment methods.
  • Experience with landscape visualisations, data analysis, computational modelling, information modelling, or human-centred research methods is an advantage.
  • Excellent project management, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
