Job description

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow, Nanobiointerface, Cellular Biophysics. The Nano-Bio Interface Lab, led by Asst. Prof. ZHAO Wenting, aims to elucidate the nanoscale regulation mechanism of how membrane geometry impacts the organization and modulation of cellular and biomolecular machineries in disease progression and therapeutic development. The lab has established state-of-the-art nanofabrication and advanced imaging technologies. The team is seeking to recruit a research fellow devoted to advancing the studies of nanoscale deformation of cellular components and its mimics derived from nanofabricated chips and high-resolution imaging. The project aims to elucidate mechanisms of biophysical guidance of biomolecular assembly and interaction for disease interpretation and related therapeutic development.

The Research Fellow will take on a significant role in leading research projects, training junior members, writing scientific publications and research grants, and coordinating collaborative work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, run, and implement scientific projects on nanoscale membrane biophysics in cells.
  • Write scientific publications and grants, and review and summarize current literature.
  • Collaborate with other research groups, team members, and supervise junior members.
  • Coordinate general operation of the laboratory, including ordering supplies and maintenance.
  • Train new laboratory personnel, students, and short-term visiting scientists.
  • Comply with all laboratory safety standards and guidelines.

Job Requirements:
  • A Ph.D. in biophysics, mechanobiology, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines. Research backgrounds in physical modeling, membrane biophysics, nanotechnology, and advanced microscopy are highly preferred.
  • Recent Ph.D. graduates with within 3 years of experience.
  • Experience in surface patterning, topography engineering, membrane mechanics, biomolecular assembly, and related techniques, mechanical modeling, and simulation is highly preferred.
  • Experience in advanced microscopy, super-resolution cell imaging, and machine learning-based image analysis is highly preferred.
  • Have more than 2 co-authored papers in reputable journals is preferred.

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
