Research Engineer (BIM Developer)

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is looking to recruit a Research Engineer to work on a research project developing an application solution for structural BIM submissions. This project aims to develop a solution that automatically checks the compliance of structural BIM submissions against existing Singapore design codes.

The candidate is expected to work on designing the overall system, liaising with vendors, leading a team of interns, and developing advanced techniques to support the system.

Job Requirements

1. Possess a recognised bachelor’s in engineering, or related field from a reputable university.
2. At least a post-graduate diploma or degree in computing or related fields.
3. At least one year’s experience in a software development role.
4. Experience with using AWS Services, specifically AWS Amplify, Amazon S3, AWS Cognito, AWS AppSync, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon Elastic Container, AWS Serverless Application Model.
5. Experience with NoSQL and Graph Databases specifically MongoDB and DynamoDB.
6. Experience with Git and Git related automation workflows.
7. Experience with developing Entity Relationship Diagrams, Activity Diagrams, Use Case Diagram, and relevant Software Development Life Cycle processes.
8. Experience with CSS Frameworks, specifically Tailwind CSS.
9. Experience with Building Information Modeling and Built Environment Related Solutions.
10. Experience with “Three.JS” for 3D Model Viewer Development for Web Applications.
11. Experience with “OpenBim Component” (Typescript Implementation).
12. Strong knowledge on Industrial Foundation Classes Schema (IFC) and related OpenBIM Standards.
13. Civil Engineering/Built Environment related experience, practices and workflows will be an added bonus.
14. Strong written and oral communication skills and able to present results clearly.
15. Open to fixed-term contract.
