The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 12-month contract at the Office of Education Research.
Project Title: PROSPER: Promoting Neuroprotective Out-of-classroom Playful Learning Interventions for Cognitive and Socio-Emotional Mathematical Competence of Pre-schoolers
Project Introduction: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate/Fellow to join our interdisciplinary team working on a cutting-edge research project titled "PROSPER: Promoting Neuroprotective Out-of-classroom Playful Learning Interventions for Cognitive and Socio-Emotional Mathematical Competence of Pre-schoolers." This project aims to implement neuroprotective playful learning interventions for cognitive and socioemotional mathematical competency development. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and evaluating these interventions to advance our understanding of how playful learning interventions can support mathematics learning and well-being.
Requirements:
- A Masters or equivalent degree in education, psychology, neuroscience, learning environments or a related field. (Candidates with a PhD may be considered for a Research Fellow position instead)
- Strong background in research methodology, with experience in designing and conducting empirical studies.
- Expertise in learning environments, development, and evaluation.
- Familiarity with design principles and planning tools that are used in creating learning environments.
- Familiarity with digital biomarkers, data analytics, and machine learning techniques.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and familiarity with software like SPSS, R, or Python.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
- Prior experience working with young children and families is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting comprehensive literature reviews on topics related to neuroprotection, learning environments, and educational psychology.
- Collect and analyze data using digital biomarkers and other relevant measures for pre-school learners.
- Management of multiple aspects of the research project, including project management, liaising with stakeholders, data collection, and analysis.
- Disseminate research findings through academic publications, research presentations, and outreach activities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigators.
