About The Role

The Bioinformatics team at Hummingbird Bioscience is expanding to meet the challenges of drug development. Our team delivers data-driven, actionable insights through the application of computational approaches to guide strategic decisions in drug and clinical development that are already having a profound impact on the lives of patients.


We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Research Associate. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in AI/ML methods for biomolecule design, experience in biological data analysis, and a passion for accelerating drug development through computational approaches.


This is a full time role based in Singapore.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop AI-assisted biomolecule design methods and strategies for prioritization and selection
  • Apply computational methods to predict antibody-antigen epitopes and calculate metrics such as binding distance, RMSD and binding free energy
  • Implement bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing NGS experiment results, including variant calling, differential expression analysis, and clonotype reconstruction
  • Perform data analysis of multi-modal pre-clinical and clinical data to support biomarker identification, MOA and strategy development
  • Build containerized applications, tools and environments (Docker/singularity/Conda)
  • Support the development of ETL pipelines, databases, and dashboards for clinical trial data integration
  • Assist in preparing reports, results, visualizations, and delivering presentations

Core Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, computational biology, or any related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Python
  • Demonstrated experience with AI tools for biomolecule design, including RFdiffusion, AlphaFold, ESM, Chai-1, and ProteinMPNN
  • Experience in processing common bioinformatics formats, including FASTA, PDB, and FASTQ
  • Demonstrated ability to containerize tools and environments (docker/singularity/conda)
  • Expertise in using Unix operating systems and HPC job schedulers (qsub/slurm)
  • Strong communication skills, collaboration, teamwork and the ability to work independently

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES
  • Familiarity with developing workflow pipelines (CWL or Nextflow)
  • Interest in biomedical research, drug and clinical development
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services and concepts
  • Familiarity with R programming
  • Knowledge of database frameworks (SQL)
  • Interest in training and mentoring interns through hands-on training experiences to effectively support project tasks
  • The ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects, and to adapt to changing priorities with tight deadlines
