Job description

Working under the directions of the Deputy Executive Director of NUHCS, the purpose of the research cardio-informatics team is to use research data (both clinical and non-clinical) to perform data analytics, using state-of-the-art statistical methodologies, augmented with Machine Learning (ML) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI), to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

As a member of this NUHCS research cardio-informatics team, he/she will liaise with external collaborators to ensure the success of all research initiatives and contribute directly to the Cardiovascular Disease National Collaborative Enterprise (CADENCE), platform 1 “Data Science,” a national clinical translational programme aimed at synergising cardiovascular research and technology capabilities across Singapore.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Assume a coordinating role in managing NUHCS cardiology clinical data extraction and transfer between contributing data sources/repositories and the main platform.
  • Oversee the administration of data access and usage, including maintenance of the cardiovascular-related (CV) database. Acquire and consolidate a list of CV-related clinical, pre-clinical, and biobank information for the database.
  • Perform data analyses when required.
  • Conduct literature searches, analyze data, maintain the trial database, and write research papers for publication in scientific journals.
  • Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in any science discipline, preferably related to clinical settings.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with an investigative nature and attention to detail.
  • Strong research writing skills with experience in research methods and data analytics; publishing a research paper as the first author is preferred.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language mentioned here: Matlab, Python, C++, R, SQL, STATA.
  • Domain knowledge in healthcare data is required.
  • Experience working in healthcare and/or wet laboratory settings would be very advantageous.
