About the Role
Reporting to the President, Medical Marketing, the Regional Medical Director is a key senior leader within the organisation.
With the ultimate aim of building a high-performing Regional MedComms editorial team and accelerating MedComms revenue growth, he/she will function as a catalyst for growth & development of Regional MedComms editorial leaders; a key collaborator of Regional MedComms business development leaders in driving acquisition of new and organic business; and an enabler of ever-increasing levels of performance of other members of the MedComms team across the region.
This role requires a strong medical/scientific background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Senior editorial practice excellence
· Coach/mentor senior regional editorial leaders and principal writers in core-region countries to enhance client engagement and customer-centric attitudes and behaviours, empowering them to function as more efficient and effective leaders of their teams
· Provide customized support to selected editorial leaders in non-core-region countries, with a focus on building leadership skills and optimizing editorial team delivery
Editorial sales enablement
· Coach/mentor senior regional editorial leaders to enhance their business development attitudes and behaviours, transforming them into more effective business development enablers
General business development
· Collaborate with regional business development leaders to identify new, high-value business opportunities
· Provide day-to-day scientific expertise and guidance to account teams across the region
· Serve as scientific/medical/editorial lead of designated key regional accounts
· Cultivate strong relationships with client medical and commercial contacts
Regional editorial direction
· Collaborate with regional editorial leaders on providing oversight of writing output quality and delivery efficiency of editorial teams of the core region
Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and Society engagement
· Cultivate strong relationships with KOL- and society-partners across disease/therapy areas by ensuring scientific rigor of all deliverables/projects/meetings involving them
· Engage the participation of KOL- and society-partners in company projects and in the development/rollout of company products & solutions within their area of clinical/research interest
Requirements:
· Healthcare science degree (MD, PharmD, BSc in nursing or allied profession)
· At least 15 years’ experience working for a healthcare communications agency
· Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills – this is assessed on application
· Proven ability in leading teams and coaching/mentoring individuals
· Ability to distil complex scientific concepts into clear, concise messages
· Attention to detail
· Strong strategic and business acumen
