Regional Finance Controller - Shipping & Logistics

The Financial Controller will lead the finance and accounting operations for a global bulk logistics entity, ensuring compliance across multiple locations and providing strategic support to Managing Directors and the Group Finance Team. This role requires expertise in the shipping industry, strong IFRS knowledge, and the ability to drive business growth through financial insights and systems optimization.

Our client is a highly established European shipping organization, and they have launched new global initiatives over the past couple of years. They are now looking for a Financial Controller to join one of their newer ventures - which is a bulk logistics entity. As the Financial Controller, you will be at the heart of a dynamic, fast-moving global operation, reporting directly to the Global Finance leadership team. You'll manage a talented team across multiple countries and play a pivotal role in ensuring financial excellence across Singapore, Dubai, and beyond.

Your expertise will be critical in delivering financial insights that support top-level decision-making, from managing cash flow and financial reporting to supporting the Managing Directors. In this exciting role, you'll also partner closely with global operations to match cargoes with available vessels, optimizing logistics in an ever-changing market.

Description

• Lead financial reporting, compliance, and audit processes across multiple international locations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to local regulations.
• Provide expert financial support to the Managing Directors, helping drive the business forward with your insights and strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with the Group Finance Team to deliver cash projections, financial packs, and operational reports that are crucial to business performance.
• Become a trusted business partner to the Operations Team, helping to optimize financial and operational strategies in a fast-paced logistics environment.
• Play a key role in the company's expansion, developing the accounting function to support growth into new markets.
• Innovate and enhance accounting systems and software to streamline operations.
• Build strong relationships with local stakeholders, including tax advisors and auditors, to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
• Act as the vital link between local finance teams and central Group Finance, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.

Profile

• A pragmatic, business-savvy financial leader who thrives in fast-paced, multi-national environments.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or economics.
• Extensive experience in a finance management role within the Shipping Industry or Trading Houses (ship owning, brokerage, commercial management, or trading).
• 3-5 years of experience in a Big 4 audit/advisory firm is highly beneficial.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and exposure to financial instruments like FFAs and hedging.
• Strong IT skills, with proficiency in relevant accounting software and systems.
