Job description

We are mandated by our client, a US MNC leading player in the building materials industry, to look for a senior director to become a Regional Chief Compliance Officer for the SEA & ANZ region.

This is a high-impact regional role where you’d:

  1. Lead compliance strategy & risk management across SEA & Oceania
  2. Work directly with senior leadership to drive a world-class compliance program
  3. Oversee anti-bribery, trade controls, and regulatory compliance across multiple markets

Responsibilities

  • Develop & Execute Compliance Strategy: Lead enterprise compliance programs across multiple regions, ensuring adherence to global and local laws.
  • Senior Business Representation: Align compliance strategies with enterprise and regional risk appetite while supporting significant growth investments.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Guide direct and indirect teams in building a world-class compliance program.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Commercial, HR, Controllership, and Internal Audit to implement compliance initiatives effectively.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct compliance risk assessments at the country level and develop plans to address identified risks.
  • Culture of Integrity: Foster an open reporting environment and drive ethical leadership engagement in the region.
  • Training & Awareness: Deliver compliance training and communications to enhance risk awareness and regulatory adherence.
  • Monitoring & Testing: Participate in global compliance processes to assess and improve control effectiveness.
  • Reporting & Governance: Provide senior management and governance committees with compliance status updates.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the point of contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring timely and accurate responses to inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field; advanced degrees (JD, MBA) or compliance certifications (Privacy, Cybersecurity, Certified Ethics Professional) are a plus.
  • 10+ years in a senior compliance role within a global organization.
  • Strong leadership experience, capable of building and guiding high-performing compliance teams.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels, from senior executives to frontline employees.
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and complex regulatory environments.
  • Experience with manufacturing facilities and multinational indirect sales networks is a plus.
  • Compliance Program Management: Extensive experience managing top-tier compliance programs, ensuring world-class functional oversight, particularly in regional settings.
  • Regulatory Expertise: Strong background in anti-bribery compliance, trade controls, and other high-priority compliance risk areas.
  • Risk Assessment & Controls: Expertise in compliance risk assessments, control design, and effectiveness testing.
