Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Portfolio Manager to oversee and manage a portfolio of distressed assets and non-performing loans (NPL) across both Commercial Banking and Global Banking. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and executing recovery strategies, managing complex workouts, and minimizing impairments/losses for the Bank. This role requires proactive leadership, strong relationship management, and expertise in handling NPLs across diverse jurisdictions.
Job Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of distressed assets and non-performing loans (NPL) across Commercial Banking and Global Banking.
Develop and seek approval for workout and recovery strategies on distressed accounts to maximize value and minimize impairments/losses to the Bank.
Represent the Bank independently in multi-bank workouts and external meetings with customers, lawyers, financial advisors, liquidators, receivers, private trustees, judicial managers, investors, and other creditors. Maintain effective working relationships with all parties.
Lead the recovery efforts, including restructuring and rescheduling, enforcement, writ-of-summons, judicial management, bankruptcy/liquidation, and pre-packs/scheme of arrangement within Singapore and other foreign jurisdictions where necessary.
Conduct post-mortem reviews to assess credit/operational risks and share key lessons learned with internal stakeholders through briefings.
Proactively assist in identifying early warning signs for corporate accounts and provide risk mitigation advice for higher-risk accounts.
Support management/audit/regulatory inquiries and reporting related to distressed assets and NPLs.
Represent the Remedial team on relevant and ad-hoc projects, including portfolio reviews of vulnerable sectors.

Job Requirements
Degree in Banking/Finance, Accountancy, Business, or equivalent.
5 to 10 years of banking experience in credit risk/corporate account management.
At least 5 years of direct experience in managing corporate NPLs, restructuring, and recovery.
Experience with distressed assets and NPLs in foreign jurisdictions is a plus.
Proven track record in managing diversified stakeholders such as corporate customers, other lenders, financial advisors, lawyers, liquidators, and judicial managers.
In-depth knowledge of insolvency laws and practices, as well as a deep understanding of banking products and practices.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong negotiation/influencing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset to work effectively with the Remedial team, Business Units, and other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
A results-driven, proactive, and persistent individual with a can-do attitude.
Agile and flexible in exploring alternatives to resolve problems and meet objectives.
