In fast changing markets, customers worldwide rely on Thales. Thales is a business where brilliant people from all over the world come together to share ideas and inspire each other. In aerospace, transportation, defence, security and space, our architects design innovative solutions that make our tomorrow's possible.
Thales established its presence in Singapore in 1973 to support the expansion of aerospace-related activities in the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout the last four decades, the company grew from strength to strength and is today involved in the primary businesses of Aerospace (including Air Traffic Management), Defence & Security, Ground Transportation and Digital Identity & Security. Thales today employs over 2,100 people in Singapore across all its business areas.
INTERNSHIP TOPIC: Model of clutters and propagation effects for Multi-Function Radar Digital Twin
Description:
The Radar detection of a target signal is hindered and limited by the presence of a variety of unwanted signals. Clutter is a term used for unwanted echoes typically returned from ground, sea and rain. Similarly, propagation of radar signals is influenced by the atmosphere and the ground and affects the Radar detection of a target signal.
In this internship, it is proposed to model through MATLAB these effects on the target detection for the last generation of Multi-Function Radar Digital Twin. These models will then be converted into software code within the Radar Digital Twin increasing scenarios and tests coverage.
Responsibilities:
The intern is expected to work together with our staff to study and model the theoretical clutters for ground, sea and rain as well as propagation effects like radio-electric visibility, atmospheric loss and interference fringes.
The specific responsibilities include:
