About the role
Reporting to QC Manager.
Your responsibilities
- Work independently to ensure the assigned task for raw materials, in-process, utility, milk powder samples are tested in a timely manner to meet TAT, according to established test methods, technology and quality requirements to provide accurate results. Be able to assist the senior chemist or lab manager to assign the routine task within team. Flexible to work over time where required.
- Good understanding of GLP, GDP, GMP and ISO17025 standard for working in laboratory to maintain the laboratory activities comply to these standards.
- Carry out the nutrients test by operation of the critical laboratory instrument such as HPLC, ICPMS and GC as well as the instrument basic maintenance.
- Strong knowledge on the Root Cause Analysis to support the OOS/deviations/atypical results/invalid results investigation. Be able to lead investigation. As at least one SME for lab testing or instrumentation.
- Good understanding of TUAS QC KPIs and be able to update the performance within the team monthly in a timely manner.
- Monitor the chemistry lab expense vs the budget. Identify and implement the productivity projects to reduce unnecessary expense and increase the laboratory efficiency such as reduced testing, rapid method etc. Involve in the chem lab yearly budget activities.
- Good knowledge of the Method Verification and Method Validation protocol and report write up and execution.
- Ensure the current, complete, legible notebooks and laboratory records are maintained in compliance with good laboratory practices.
- Good knowledge in lean lab concept and actively involve or lead the continuous improvement project to improve the laboratory test efficiency and productivity.
- Look after the good inventory of QC materials such as media, reagents, chemicals and consumables to support testing.
- Use GLIMS laboratory data management system effectively to manage the laboratory generated data. Be able to use GLIMS to retrieve the results to support the data trending and investigation purpose.
- Lead and maintain the housekeeping standard of laboratory, work area and equipment (e.g. practice 5S), observe safety requirements and Good Laboratory Practice in the laboratory which is compliant with company and regulatory standards.
- Proactively monitor quality trends and abnormalities and timely keep management and other departments informed of quality issues as appropriate to enable immediate corrective action. Be able to do the preliminary investigation of the abnormalities observed.
- Write and/or revise the QC SOP/WI.
The experience we're looking for
- Degree holder in analytical chemistry, food science or related field with at least 3 years working experience in milk powder manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in chemistry laboratory testing technology and instruments such as HPLC, GC, ICPMS etc, preferably testing nutrients in milk powder products using these instruments.
