Gearbulk is an international shipping group providing high quality transportation services for various industrial sectors. Founded in 1968 by Kristian Gerhard Jebsen in Bergen, Norway, the company is 72% owned by Mitsui OSK Lines, and the remaining 28% is owned by Marubeni Corporation, both shareholders based in Japan. In 2017 Gearbulk and Grieg Star established the joint venture G2 Ocean with headquarters in Bergen, Norway.

The group operates the world’s largest fleet of open hatch vessels, specifically designed and equipped to transport unitized cargoes such as forest products, steels and non-ferrous metals and project cargo. Gearbulk is also involved in terminal operations.

We are looking for a Purchaser to join our office in Singapore.

Together with Ship Management and the responsible superintendent, the job holder will procure goods and support the Technical Superintendent in arranging necessary services for the ship in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards in line with company policies and guidelines. Additionally, he/she will monitor and follow up on supplier commitments, ensuring the Procurement system remains consistently updated.

1. The desired education is a maritime education (technical or deck) or Marine Engineering education on Diploma or bachelor level.
2. Technical/maritime background or experience from a purchaser position.
3. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
5. Organized, self-starter.
6. Capable of working in an international environment.
7. Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Analytical, problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills.
9. Capable of always focusing on how to make a good deal.
10. A high degree of computer literacy.
11. Able to work well under pressure.
