Job Summary:

The Project Manager will be responsible for starting and delivering the project under the project director's instruction, managing the day-to-day operations of the project. In addition, he/she will review and analyze project schedules, quality status, site safety performance, team member workload, engineering and contractor cost estimates, bids, change orders, invoices, labor rates, and physical engineering/construction progress.

The Project Manager will oversee the project team performance from start to finish, monitoring the budget, tracking, and controlling CAPEX costs as well as engineer/contractor costs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in setting up the project team per individual project execution phase.
  2. Manage and execute the project in compliance with WuXi Biologics procedures.
  3. Prepare CAPEX project funding documents.
  4. Develop the initial project construction budget estimation.
  5. Lead risk analysis reviews, manage risk models, and monitor leading indicators and early warnings.
  6. Manage and monitor project performance, including schedules, change notices, progress, and delivered documents.
  7. Take overall responsibility for project safety management and set up a routine safety monitoring program.
  8. Manage project costs via design, procurement, and construction to achieve no over-budget spending.
  9. Develop, monitor, and maintain overall Monthly Project Reports, including progress, major achievements, risks, budgeting, forecasting, schedule updates, variance analysis, change management, and early warnings.
  10. Develop procurement strategies together with the procurement team.
  11. Review and analyze engineer/contractor bidding plans for quality, compliance with company requests and related codes, schedules, progress, bids, change notices, and costs.
  12. Work in conjunction with Construction Management, Facility Engineering, Quality Assurance, LDI, vendors, and the project team to implement project management to ensure project execution is on track.
  13. Lead the project team across all disciplines covering quality, planning/scheduling, site management, and qualification.
  14. Review and manage engineering/construction quality, progress, and cost forecasts for remaining work.
  15. Support the closeout of contracts and purchase orders.
  16. Deliver the project to the end user no later than the Board-approved schedule.
  17. Responsible for project handover.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  2. 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry engineering, construction, qualification, and validation from a project management perspective.
  3. 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical projects, especially in the pharmaceutical industry from start to finish of $200M size projects or larger. Experience in food, chemical, or other related industries is acceptable.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint. Oracle P6 and Visio will be preferred.
  5. Experience in engineering, construction, commissioning, and validation preferred.
  6. The Project Manager must have strong technical knowledge in engineering, construction, commissioning, and pharmaceutical industry qualification, cost, and schedule management.
  7. Strong management skills for LDI design quality and progress control, construction site EHS monitoring, change management, schedule monitoring, cost estimate analysis, budget monitoring, cash flow analysis, risk management, and benchmarking project costs.
  8. Good understanding of all types of project execution phases from concept feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, bidding or tendering, site construction, commissioning, and qualification until handover.
  9. Strong skills in leadership, communication, coordination, self-driven, and problem-solving.
  10. Flexibility to handle multiple priorities with deadlines.
  11. Willingness to travel as necessary.
