Position Overview

The Project Director is responsible for leading, overseeing, managing and implementing multiple IT/ Engineering projects with quality, within scope and to ensure deliverables are on time and conform to processes and standards meeting customer’s requirements.

You will also manage a project team across different functional areas and lead pre-sale activities to respond to tenders; manage staff’s performance, feedback and morale; take ownership of staff’s project assignments; and take full accountability of projects’ development milestones and project financials.

Responsibilities:

Project & Service Management

  1. Review the project lifecycle (initiation, plan, execution, completion).
  2. Review project schedules, quality plans, budgets, and communication and risk management plans.
  3. Manage issues arising out of scope definition and disputes that impacted scope, schedule and cost.
  4. Manage issues arising from integration of various components of the project, e.g. hardware, software installation, testing, business process review, redesign, application development, migration and data conversion.
  5. Manage project financials, ensuring project cost/revenue forecast is done accurately.
  6. Oversee the implementation of the project with regard to schedules, budget, manpower and quality.
  7. Resolve project overrun issues.
  8. Monitor and report on project management progress to Senior Management and Customer.
  9. Manage resources in terms of mobilizing resources during different periods of time from team to team to maximize productivity or minimize wastage.
  10. Lead the project and service team on smooth project transition to operation in accordance with customer requirement and processes.
  11. Manage project operation and ensure service level is maintained without financial penalty and security incident due to negligence or lack of awareness.

Customer/Vendor/Stakeholder Management

  1. Manage contracts and subcontractors.
  2. Effectively engage stakeholders in project decisions and execution.
  3. Build long-term customer relationships by anticipating and exceeding customer’s expectations.
  4. Negotiate with customers on change control mechanism to meet schedules and prioritize changes based on business needs.

Business Development

  1. Proactively identify opportunities for further expansion or improvement of services delivered to the customer and liaise with the Account Manager(s) for development of that opportunity.
  2. Participate in tenders and contribute to tender proposal, provide inputs in project delivery effort, risks and review compliance to tender requirement.
  3. Be involved in pre-sale activities and provide leadership to the project team to ensure that proposals/enhancements are fully analyzed and evaluated for benefits and cost.

Team Management

  1. Participate in leadership activities and provide performance feedback and developmental coaching.
  2. Monitor and improve team performance, conduct team building, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management.
  3. Build, lead and motivate a high performing team with innovative culture.
  4. Lead, guide, manage and motivate the projects’ team members in delivering quality project works, eliminating project exceptions and delighting the customers.
  5. Plan for optimal use of resources across teams comprising of Project and Technical competencies.
  6. Manage performance review of team and maintain open communication with team for feedback on continuous improvement.
  7. Plan and develop team members to achieve their individual career development plan.
  8. Ensure high individual and staff billability.

The Ideal Profile Should Have / Be:

  1. Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  2. More than 15 years of project management experience.
  3. Self-motivated with a positive “can-do” attitude, creative with excellent presentation, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including strong persuasive techniques.
  4. Able to lead, develop and maintain respectful and trusting relationships.
  5. Able to travel as and when required.
