Job Title: Project Controller, EVF

Sanofi has added two new Evolutive Facilities to our global industrial footprint. These production units (EVF) represent the future of manufacturing. They allow us to increase our capacities while making production more flexible and respectful of the environment.
Fully digitalized, our Evolutive Facilities (EVF) will enable more responsive and flexible manufacturing across multiple vaccine and biological platforms including mRNA, while minimizing our impact on the environment. Our EVFs will help improve people’s lives by giving them faster access to more treatments.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage the cost estimate of investment projects during the Evaluation phase, Feasibility phase, Conceptual Studies and Basic Studies:
- Analyze partial cost estimates established by the project team and consultants.
- Self-perform cost estimates (full or partial) as required.
- Aggregate cost information and identify necessary provisions to cover technical risks and contingencies with appropriate methodology (e.g. Monte-Carlo simulation).
- Prepare the cost estimate validation meeting and issue the final approved cost estimate synthesis according to the M&S standards.
- Update the project tools (SHINE…).
- Ensure project cost control during the engineering through execution project phases:
- Coordinate project cost control efforts on large, complex projects (100+ M€).
- Establish budget breakdown from the approved capital appropriation, elements contained in the cost estimate, and following company accounting rules.
- Follow commitments and work-in-place and issue a monthly dashboard.
- Issue project cost data and associated metrics in a timely manner.
- Actively identify and manage deviations or variations from baseline, analyze cost impact, and manage the gap.
- Alert the engineering project manager and project leader of deviations and propose corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with project transfer and change management procedures.
- Use standard cost control tools as well as time-and-material (T&M) based and milestone (deliverable) based progress methods.
- Establish regular cost trends and determine the cost estimate at completion of the project.
- Reconcile regularly the comparison between project reports and ERP.
- Respond and comply with Finance requirements including budget, trend, closure…
- Update project tools (SHINE…).
- Establish the end-to-end project schedule according to the project scope:
- Analyze project planning requirements.
- Define schedule objectives with the project team.
- Set up schedule strategy including necessary float.
- Gather existing data (ex. benchmarks) and integrate sub-project schedules.
- Split project structure into consistent parts following a work breakdown structure.
- Establish the project detailed schedule with collaboration of project actors and inform them of short-term, middle-term and longer-term actions.
- Integrate partner schedules as required to build an integrated schedule.
- Update project tools (SHINE…).
- Ensure end-to-end project schedule control during project life cycle phases:
- Coordinate project schedule control efforts on large, complex projects.
- Develop schedule control tools and measure physical progress (earned value) on a regular basis.
- Follow up schedule performance index notably the progress of milestones.
- Actively identify and manage deviations/variations from baseline, analyze schedule impact, and manage the gap.
- Warn the engineering project manager and project leader of deviations and propose corrective actions and ensure follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with project change management procedures.
- Support engineering project manager and project leader on scope changes and integration of associated impact.
- Establish and report regularly on the schedule dashboard (general overview, schedule level 2…).
- Establish general and detailed schedule progress curves.
- Update project tools (SHINE…).
- Coordinate the project controls team members throughout the end-to-end project lifecycle as well as ensure the interface with other relevant functions:
- Coordinate project controls team members (internals and externals) on large, complex projects.
- Evaluate competencies of costs and schedules project team resources and advise the Project Controls Head.
- Participate in costs & schedule/Technical/Value Engineering/Risk analysis Reviews.
- Evaluate and co-validate with Project Leaders Cost/Schedule/Good Engineering Practices risks mitigation actions.
- Ensure implementation and follow-up of mitigation actions with the Projects Leader.
- Alert project manager and project leader on timeline slippage, cost, and budget concerns.
- Assist project leader in organizing and facilitating project meetings, gate reviews.
- Provide regular project reporting based on pre-defined KPI’s and major deliverables.
- Ensure a link with Project Management Function including the end-to-end (E2E) project leader and E2E project control.
About You:
- Engineering degree with 15 years of experience within an industrial environment, ideally within the engineering, or another technical area or project management. Knowledge/experience in the chemical and/or pharmaceutical areas is preferred.
- Significant experience as a project controls manager (PCM) on large industrial investment (CapEx) projects.
- Competencies for managing a team and building transversal interfaces.
- Good relationship-building and communication skills through all levels of an organization.
- Customer-centric / Results-oriented / Teamwork mindset / Clear thinker.
- French language skills would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence and build relationships across both internal and external program/project.
