Product Developer

Please note: This is not a Remote role and will require the incumbent to be based in Singapore and follow a hybrid work schedule. This is an Individual Contributor role.

What You’ll Do For Us

• Execute the product development pipeline initiatives for the Alcoholic RTD Refreshment portfolio: new products, reformulations and application of new product/ingredient/alcohol base technologies.
• Development of lab scale prototypes, producing pilot plans for both beverage-based parts and final products. Prepare beverages and conduct analytical tests on taste and/or odor according to sensory guidelines, including qualifying taste panelists. Assist in setting ingredient and product specifications and stability testing.
• Designs, develops, conducts and/or reviews experiments at laboratory to deliver on ideation, innovation and business continuity initiatives by evaluating ingredients, materials, products, and processes.
• Conducts scale-up pilot trials, acquiring proficiency in the safe and efficient operation of equipment, while ensuring all processes meet safety and performance standards if needed.
• Participates in commercialization scale test at manufacturing line with Technical QA and Commercialization team if needed.
• Provides expertise and recommendations of best practices for production of beverage-based part or finished products during production trials with the plants or bottling partners, which includes consulting line managers as appropriate on milestones and general guidelines and proactively provides advice inside & outside R&D community.
• Manages work requests from multiple scientists and schedules for maximum efficiency and priority. Communicate openly with scientists regarding timing and progress of requested work.
• Performs chemical analyses using instrumental methods to determine the composition of samples and prepares samples and sampling plan for ingredients, intermediate or finished products, or other materials in order to perform analyses.
• Writes detailed & accurate reports for analyses, experiments, or projects. Gathers and organizes information under tight timelines to support senior management's decision-making.
• Participates in team projects, cross-functional committees, or company-wide initiatives to share information, represent the department/division perspective or assist with product development, process modification, package development and marketing.
• Works on product development projects assigned by line manager from idea generation to formula finalization through close discussion and alignment with Technical and Marketing team and all other stakeholders.
• Supports lab administration, including managing material inventories, overseeing equipment maintenance, coordinating with suppliers, and handling order management to ensure seamless operations.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, calibrating, and repairing). Maintain cleanliness of labs and storage areas.
• Continuous curiosity on competition activities and strategy and trends in the category, identifying growth opportunities with the support of manager.
• Leverages prior education, suppliers, and literature to innovate within scope of briefs provided by other technical experts or supervisor.
• Applies food science knowledge of ingredients, packaging, processing to assure safe and high-quality products.
• Collaborates with the broader Development and Innovation network, with multiple function subject matter experts and leaders to identify and validate fit-for purpose solutions based on project needs and scope.
• Ensure technical risks are identified, controlled, aligned, and effectively communicated.
• Leads project meetings within the category, cross-functionally with marketing, customer management or technical groups.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Postgraduate in food science, chemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years successful experience in product development or R&D (with 2-3 years of experience in alcoholic beverage)
• Proficient in understanding of Alcoholic Product Development and Food Science and Technology concepts
• Moderate understanding of flavor application in beverage
• Must have moderate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote) and online solutions (Teams, SharePoint, Power Apps).
• Must possess the ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to formulas and ingredients.
• Knowledge of project management principles and the ability to apply the principles, tools and techniques to develop/plan, manage or execute projects or work plans to ensure successful completion is ideal.
• Ability to communicate effectively to cross-functional teams on project's progress, risks and mitigation plans through presentations, meetings and constructive discussions with the capacity of influencing stakeholders is needed.
• Working knowledge of Alcoholic beverage regulations and standards within the region
• An understanding of sensory and consumer sciences
• A working understanding of marketing concepts
• Fluent in English, additional language is a plus
• Travel requirements: Up to 10%
