Job description

As a Private Bank Operations Lead in Barclays’ Operations team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth of the Private Banking Business in Singapore with service delivery and oversight of the Private Banking Operations functions. You will effectively manage and maintain processes, control, risk management, and compliance with MAS regulations, sitting within Barclays Execution Services (BX), providing services to Private Bank and Wealth Management (PBWM).

You should possess an exceptionally strong understanding of Private Investment Banking, working and leading within an operations environment. You will have accountability for experience in Client Lifecycle Management, Investment Operations, and Credit Operations service performance. The role holder will be a Material Risk Personal (MRP) and therefore requires experience of Risk & Control frameworks. You will have direct line accountability for 4 Operations colleagues.

Fluency in Mandarin and/or Bahasa Indonesia will be a plus as the portfolio covers Greater China and Indonesia stakeholders where proficiency in the language will help influence the direction of the function, in alignment with both strategic and tactical priorities.

Purpose of the role

To manage operations within a business area and maintain processes, risk management initiatives, and compliance with relevant regulators.

Accountabilities

  1. Identification of trends and opportunities to improve areas and develop new processes and procedures through the monitoring and analysis of operational data and performance metrics.
  2. Management of operations for a business area and promotion of efficient processes, risk management, and compliance initiatives to support the bank's operations.
  3. Collaboration with internal stakeholders (including business leaders, project managers, and SMEs) and external stakeholders (including vendors and service providers) to support business operations and promote alignment with the bank's objectives and SLAs.
  4. Management of operational professionals and provision of guidance, coaching, and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality.
  5. Management and development of KPIs to measure the effectiveness of operation functions, utilizing data and technology to support the identification of areas that require improvement.
  6. Compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to customer experience.
  7. Creation of a safe environment for colleagues to speak up, actively and regularly encouraging and soliciting feedback to ensure the people agenda remains focused on the right areas.
  8. Management of attrition by working closely with HR in implementing retention initiatives for the workforce.

  5. Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  6. Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  7. Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  8. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  9. Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  10. Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  11. Seek out, build, and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
