Privacy Counsel (SGD 200,000-$250,000)

We are currently partnered with a rapidly growing company in the gaming industry that is seeking to add a Privacy Counsel to their team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with global privacy laws and regulations, advising on privacy-related matters, and implementing policies to protect personal data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Privacy Law Compliance:
    • Advise the company on privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, APPI, PIPA, and other global data protection frameworks.
    • Ensure the company complies with data privacy requirements across different jurisdictions.
    • Maintain and monitor privacy policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Develop and implement data protection strategies that align with business objectives while ensuring the security and privacy of personal data.
  • Collaborate with business units to assess and mitigate privacy risks in data processing activities, including product development, marketing, and customer engagement.
  • Review and assess data security measures, data breach preparedness, and incident response protocols.
  • Legal Guidance & Risk Management:
    • Provide legal guidance on the collection, storage, processing, and transfer of personal data.
    • Advise on privacy-related contracts, including data processing agreements, vendor contracts, and customer terms and conditions.
    • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for high-risk data processing activities.
    • Identify potential privacy risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and implement solutions to reduce exposure.
  • Develop and deliver training to employees on privacy best practices, data protection laws, and internal policies.
  • Promote a culture of privacy awareness across the organization.
  • Incident Response & Breach Management:
    • Lead the response to data privacy incidents, ensuring compliance with breach notification requirements and mitigating risks.
    • Manage relationships with external advisors, regulators, and data protection authorities in the event of a data breach.
  • Regulatory Engagement:
    • Maintain knowledge of evolving global privacy laws and regulations and inform key stakeholders of changes that may impact the business.
    • Represent the company in regulatory inquiries and audits, ensuring timely and compliant responses to requests from data protection authorities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited law school, CIPP/E qualifications will be preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in privacy law, data protection, or related fields, preferably within the TMT sector.
  • Strong knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, APPI, PIPA, etc.).
  • Experience with privacy program management, including conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex privacy issues to non-legal professionals.
