Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release. They assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes. The teams conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs, and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication, and manufacturing ramp. They provide all required product documentation including Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for high-speed backplane connector and/or high-speed mezzanine connector product design & development for data communication in servers and storage.
• Follow TE LEANPD process to complete new product design and development along with project development team, including customer requirements alignment, concept conception, detailed design, product qualification, and production.
• Initiate concepts for next generation products, offering technical solutions, proactively proving feasibility and mitigating risks.
• Plan and set up team capability and resources for platform products.
• Work closely with SA/FAE/PM to review VOC and convert to TE product specifications.
• Conceive concepts, conduct feasibility studies with project team, and validate proto samples.
• Perform detailed design including DFMEA, tolerance analysis, mechanical and thermal simulation, and 2D drawing.
• Conduct product qualification following product specifications.
• Provide technical support for quality and efficiency improvements for safe launch.
• Offer technical support to customers, Sales/FAE, PM, and Ops teams globally.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required; Master’s preferred.
• 15 years or more experience in connector design or manufacturing engineering.
• Knowledge in connector design and development, including material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and product qualification.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, molding, stamping, and plating.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent skills in design software (e.g., Pro/E, CREO, AutoCAD).
• Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).
• Good planning and prioritization skills.
• Good English skills in both oral and written communication.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, 6sigma, DOE, 8D); Black belt is a plus.
• Knowledge of signal integrity is a plus.
