About the team you are joining
The Principal, Consulting, Asia takes part in business development, project management, project delivery, and practice management in the Asia pole of IATA Consulting. He or she reports to the Senior Principal, Consulting, Asia with a focus on IATA’s Asia Pacific (ASPAC) and North Asia (NASIA) regions.
The position is based in Singapore.
What your day would be like
The Principal, IATA Consulting, Asia is expected to:
Take part in business development:
- Generate leads with commercial prospects in air transport in Asia (ASPAC and NASIA) through existing and new client relationships at (typically) the vice-president or general manager level.
- Qualify opportunities to the point where a bid/no-bid decision can be made involving the Senior Principal, Consulting, Asia.
- Supervise the preparation of commercial and technical proposals, including bottom-up budgets that include the planned expertise, effort, and cost of sales involved, leveraging existing tools and templates provided by IATA Consulting.
- Maintain the accuracy of his or her commercial portfolio in the systems used by IATA Consulting to monitor the commercial pipeline and performance.
Take part in project management:
- Supervise the delivery of several Consulting projects in parallel, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality, in accordance with IATA Consulting standards.
- Monitor the project economics incl. effort and operating margin of projects under supervision.
- Organize the activities of internal and external resources involved in the projects.
- Act as a key interface to the clients in the delivery of the projects, attending the appropriate governance forums and acting proactively to mitigate risks and remove roadblocks.
- Note: occasionally, projects may take place outside of Asia, at the request of the IATA Consulting leadership.
Take part in project delivery:
- On an as-needed basis, supplement the delivery teams with his or her own expertise and guidance on solving specific project tasks.
Take part in practice management:
- Hold accountability for the NASIA profit center and associated revenue target of IATA Consulting while maintaining a 50% focus (approximately/indicatively) on contributing to the ASPAC revenue.
- Manage hiring, commercial partnerships, and travel budget of IATA Consulting in NASIA. Assist the same for ASPAC, in consultation with the IATA Consulting leadership.
- Guide and coach junior members of the team.
- Maintain his or her own expertise in several areas of relevance to IATA Consulting.
- On an ad-hoc basis, contribute to new product development initiatives led by other resources in IATA Consulting.
- Attend conferences and produce intellectual property on an ad-hoc basis to increase the brand equity of IATA Consulting in the market.
We would love to hear from you if
- You have a university degree (Master's level at a minimum) in air transport, economics or engineering.
- Approximately 15 years of total experience in air transport.
- A minimum of ten years of consulting experience required in a corporate environment, incl. management consultancies with a sectoral on-air transport, or airport engineering firms.
- Experience delivering aviation consulting projects in Asia seen as a plus.
- Fair understanding of relevant IATA standards such as IOSA, NDC, ADRM, LoS, etc.
- High-level of computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Project.
- Experience in airport simulation tools is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to author reports in English.
- Strong analytical mindset.
