Job description

Reporting to:

Sales Director

Job Overview:

As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and drafting systems for business proposals brought in by the sales team, ensuring that quotes are technically correct before signing off. You will also be responsible for the following; providing technical support to the sales team throughout the sales process, writing technical specs, specifying the correct equipment required for each sales proposal, providing simple concept drawings for the quotes, preparing supporting documents and detailed drawings for projects that have been sold, assisting the sales team during client meetings to confirm and ensure that the technical requirements are correct.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and engineering from simple to complex AV systems.
  • Software sales of related UC collaboration tools.
  • Generate functional line drawings for audio, video, control, and communication systems
  • Extensive knowledge of signal flow for audio, video, control, and networking
  • Assist the sales team in developing proposals and estimates
  • Proactively manage change orders and processing
  • Effectively coordinate with project managers on project details
  • Continuous education on design practices and new product knowledge
  • Attend sales meetings and job walks
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Build relationships with clients and possess a strong customer service attitude. Feel interested, confident, and credible in the solutions being presented.
  • Lead and assist the sales and project team with the design and development of high-end audio-visual collaboration solutions unitizing the latest control system, video conferencing, unified communications, and video streaming solutions.
  • Respond to RFPs and develop written quotations, system designs, and schematics.
  • Working knowledge and design experience with Unified Communications systems as well as video streaming and video conferencing solutions are required.

Professional Skills & Personal Capabilities:

  • Experience with technical sales and installation procedures for colleges, universities, corporations, enterprises, and government customers.
  • Knowledge of current technology and trends in the audio-visual field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within the audiovisual industry
  • Minimum of 1 years experience in engineering & design
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree
