Job Description

NUS College (NUSC), the honours college of the National University of Singapore, seeks to hire an Associate Professor of Practice with strong accomplishments and deep experience in the non-profit sector. The primary responsibility of the Associate Professor of Practice is to supervise multi-disciplinary teams of students engaged in the capstone Impact Experience (IEx) projects to found interdisciplinary solutions to wicked social and environmental problems faced by communities in Southeast Asia, inclusive of Singapore. The Associate Professor of Practice will also assist the Vice Dean of Special Programmes to develop the IEx programme beyond NUSC for NUS students at large and establish an IEx incubator programme to grow suitable IEx projects to become non-profits or social enterprises.

The secondary responsibility of the Associate Professor of Practice is to contribute to other parts of NUSC education and more broadly to new developments in interdisciplinary education in NUS. This includes teaching Making Connections elective courses related to policy making and advocacy with regards to the non-profit sector and developing the Asian Undergraduate Symposium (AUS), NUSC's signature summer programme, in line with the IEx programme and regional youth engagement.

Candidates should hold a degree awarded by a reputable global university, have the equivalent of six years of professional practice experience in Southeast Asia, and demonstrated impact in the field with emerging intellectual authority and regional reputation. We will consider individuals able to start by July 2025, in time for the AUS2025 (7-19 July 2025). The contract is for three years in the first instance and is renewable subject to good performance.

5. A ten-page professional accomplishments statement. Evidence includes but is not limited to invention, creation, design, translational scholarship, disciplinary research, leadership and/or authority in a specific field.
6. A five-page service statement. List and elaborate on the impact of service to the University (if applicable), professional community, industry, national/international agencies, and/or academic community.
7. A ten-page education statement of teaching philosophy and methodology. Evidence of teaching ability particularly towards executive and continuing education would be valuable.
8. Three referees' letters, at least one from a non-academic of sufficient standing in a public agency or industry.
