Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physical Commodities Trader to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the trading and physical execution of commodities across multiple regions, including but not limited to oil, gas, metals, agricultural products, and energy.
As a Physical Commodities Trader, you will leverage your market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and ability to manage complex logistics to source and deliver commodities to meet client needs. You will work closely with the supply chain, risk management, and operations teams to ensure the timely and efficient movement of physical goods.
Key Responsibilities:
Trading & Sourcing: Identify market opportunities, execute buy and sell transactions for physical commodities, and build a network of suppliers, customers, and third-party vendors.
Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and geopolitical developments to assess trading strategies and market risk.
Negotiation: Negotiate trade terms, contracts, and pricing with suppliers, buyers, and logistics partners, ensuring favorable conditions for the company.
Logistics Coordination: Oversee the transportation and delivery of physical commodities, coordinating with shipping, storage, and delivery teams to ensure smooth operations.
Risk Management: Implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with physical trading, including price volatility, supply chain disruptions, and credit risk.
Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, brokers, and internal teams.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies, particularly in relation to commodity trading, logistics, and financial reporting.
Requirements:
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in physical commodities trading (oil, gas, metals, agriculture, etc.) with a proven track record of successful trades and relationship management.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the commodities markets, including supply and demand fundamentals, price dynamics, and geopolitical factors that impact commodity pricing and availability.
Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with multiple stakeholders.
Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess market trends and develop actionable insights.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategies and decisions to both internal teams and external partners.
Education: A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred. Additional qualifications in commodities trading or risk management are a plus.
