Pharmacy Technician (North/GOVT) - office hours/up to $3500/Entry Level #HAO

Salary: up to $3500

Working Days & Hours: 5.25 days Staggered Office Hours

Location: Woodlands

Job Description:

1. Assist the pharmacist in the processing of medication orders for inpatient and outpatient dispensing which includes typing, packing, labelling and distribution of drug supplies to the wards and other hospital departments.
2. Perform billing functions and ensure that all outstanding bills are recovered, including answering billing and subsidy enquiries.
3. Responsible for training new staff regarding cashiering and billing functions.
4. Dispense medicines and provide patient education under the supervision of a pharmacist.
5. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures pertaining to Good Dispensing Practice and legal requirements.
6. Assist in providing quality customer service.
7. Monitor all transactions related to stock movements and billing to ensure timely record keeping using relevant computer systems.
8. Review stockholding situation and par level regularly to ensure effective control of inventory.
9. Organise the annual stocktake session, including manpower needed, preparation of count sheet and stock preparation.
10. Investigate and resolve any stock discrepancies.
11. Plan the roster and manpower for routine cleaning and upkeep of the space and equipment.
12. Support the hospital by actively participating in various activities organized by the hospital, including QC, community projects, staff welfare, and recreational activities.
13. Assist supervisors with the collation of feedback and provide recommendations for the progression of subordinates.
14. Conduct performance appraisals of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy service associates/assistants.
15. Coordinate and invigilate written assessments for new or junior staff and attachments.
16. Liaise with the compounding laboratory to place and confirm extemporaneous and sterile preparation orders.
17. Ensure adequate staffing on the floor by overseeing the manpower allocation table of each section for smooth day-to-day operations.
18. Orientate and train new staff assigned to the section.
19. Act as buddies to newcomers.
20. Other duties as directed by supervisors.

II. SPECIALISED ROLES/ FUNCTIONS

1. Assist Medication Safety In-Charge by ensuring timely data collection and collation of error trending reports, investigating medication errors, and implementing medication safety process improvement initiatives.
2. Ensure that medication repackaging standards and quality checks are performed in accordance with repackaging standards.
3. Assist the Unit Dose Packaging Pharmacy In-Charge in ensuring smooth U D P operations, including manpower allocation, production job planning, handling enquiries from wards, and performing simple troubleshooting of automation machines.
4. Liaise with external vendors and procurement to ensure smooth outsourcing activities.
5. Assist the pharmacist in processing medication orders for sterile and extemporaneous preparations according to USP guidelines.
6. Ensure maintenance, sanitation, and organization of clean room and related equipment according to policies and procedures.
7. Assist Section IC in planning and implementing IT projects.
8. Coordinate and conduct training on IT systems and automation at the department level.
9. Handle and respond to IT issues reported and CR raised.
10. Provide staff feedback and peer review.
11. Perform simple data extraction requests for operational purposes/dashboard.
