Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst (Payments) with strong experience in banking technology, payment processing, and system design. The successful candidate will play a key role in requirements gathering, system analysis, and data modeling to support SMBC's payment transformation projects. This position requires deep technical and analytical expertise in payment systems, strong communication skills, and a problem-solving mindset. Experience with Agile software development methodologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business and system requirements. Conduct system analysis and data modeling to support payment processing solutions. Analyze complex system interactions and identify potential issues and solutions. Document business requirements (BRD), functional specifications (FSD), and interface specifications.
  2. Solution Design & Development Support: Work closely with development teams to design system architectures and data models aligned with business needs. Provide technical inputs on payment processing infrastructures (e.g., ACH, SWIFT, FAST Payments, APIs, Virtual Accounts, Liquidity Management). Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and contribute to user stories and acceptance criteria.
  3. Testing & Implementation Support: Assist in System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing. Validate that solutions meet business requirements and are aligned with payment industry standards (SWIFT, ISO 20022). Support post-implementation reviews and issue resolution.
  4. Documentation & Compliance: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface specifications and registers, and process workflows and data models. Ensure documentation aligns with SMBC’s standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting: Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring alignment of requirements and solutions. Provide timely updates to stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues. Escalate issues to relevant stakeholders and management promptly.

Requirements:

A. Technical Skills: Proficient in system design, data modeling, and programming concepts. Strong knowledge of database management systems (SQL, NoSQL). Familiarity with software development methodologies, especially Agile/Scrum.

B. Analytical Skills: Strong background in banking technology, specifically: Cash Management products, Payment processing workflows, System integrations and APIs. Proven ability to analyze complex systems and processes, identify issues, and recommend solutions.

C. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with technical teams and business stakeholders. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into non-technical language for business users.

D. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address system issues and provide timely resolutions. Awareness of market practices and industry trends to assess new requirements and improve operational efficiency.
