Patient Service Officer, Business Office (5.5-day work week)

(A) JOB SUMMARY

• Supervise the daily discharge of patients and their billing preparation, including weekends and public holidays on a rotational schedule.
• Coordinate with insurers and medical concierge for information requests before admission, during treatment, and after discharge.
• Build positive working relationships with insurers, medical concierge, and clinic staff.

(B) PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in providing bill estimates to insurers, medical concierges, and any additional information regarding the issuance of a Letter of Guarantee (LOG) before a patient's admission.
• Coordinate with the clinic to help insurers issue a LOG.
• Ensure all documentation for ongoing cases is properly organized and that the covered amount is enough to cover the bill.
• Coordinate with the Business Office and Patient Service Centre to ensure non-covered costs, including companion charges, foreign insurer fees, and room differences, are collected from discharged patients or preauthorized on their credit cards before they depart.
• Coordinate with the Patient Service Centre and Business Office personnel to ensure that the final bill, along with the interim Letter of Guarantee (LOG) and discharge summary, is sent to the insurer within one week of the patient's discharge.
• Assist insurers or medical concierges with requests for reports, detailed bills, and discharge summaries to help process the bills. The final log provided by the insurers or concierge should be forwarded to the Business Office Account Receivable team to send the final bill for payment.
• Assist in reviewing workflows and processes on a regular basis.
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.

(C) REQUIREMENTS:

• At least a polytechnic diploma holder
• Ideally 1-2 years of experience in healthcare settings, with some insurance knowledge.
• Good team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and multitasking skills
