Pastoral Team Lead - Missions Ministry

Job Description

He / she is responsible for overseeing the Missions portfolio in Wesley Methodist Church (WMC); working with the Missions management team, staff and lay teams to strategize, lead & support the 1) Field Development and Training Committee, and 2) overseas missional work under WMC’s purview. Work with fellow staff and lay committees to raise new missional opportunities; nurture and mobilize Wesleyans in these opportunities as part of their Christian discipleship in fulfilling the Great Commission.

Responsibilities: -

• Network and build relationship with Mission agencies/partners in Singapore and beyond, with a view to exploring and strategizing new ways of doing missions/new mission models under the evolving geopolitical landscape, as well as being involved in setting up the necessary framework within WMC, including but not limited to reviewing the Missions Policy.
• Create Awareness on missions opportunity at WMC with a view to encourage participation, and to collaborate with relevant ministries in this regard.
• Provide support and care for all new & existing missionaries, missioners & theological students

Requirements: -

• Alignment with the doctrinal articles of religion and the general rules of the Methodist Church (as contained in the Book of Discipline of the Methodist Church in Singapore) and its Social Principles.
• Ability and willingness to work non-traditional schedules which includes evenings, public holidays and weekends.
• Keen passion for growing in theological knowledge, and in understanding of Missions work
• Relevant theological qualifications (e.g. MDiv) and/or experience in similar capacities.
• Worked in a Church or Parachurch organization in the area of missions for at least 5 years.
• Strong understanding of missional strategies and approaches that is up-to-date with current missional trends.
• A servanthood and pastoral heart to serve and nurture/ develop others
• Ability to travel to countries/overseas missions without restrictions.
