Position Overview
The Outdoor Educator & Early Years Specialist will lead our Cubs, Babies, Sprouts, and Sunbirds programs for children aged 18 months to 6 years. In addition to guiding young learners, this role involves instilling best practices in early childhood education within the team. You’ll also manage programs and contribute to the development and delivery of our forest school, adventure camps, and other outdoor learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Program Planning & Development
- Enhance session plans for our Babies and Cubs programs, ensuring alignment with early childhood best practices.
- Design and refine experiences for Sprouts and Sunbirds that foster adventure, curiosity, and holistic growth, maximizing the unique potential of our nature spaces.
- Develop creative, nature-centered session plans and share these with the team.
Program Delivery
- Lead around six early years forest school sessions weekly during term time, including our Saturday morning Forest School Club.
- Lead or oversee groups during camp weeks, supporting the Camp Manager and ensuring a high-quality experience.
- Engage in program planning, administration, communication, and team training.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing environment for young learners, supporting their first experiences in outdoor education.
General Duties
- Assist with training and team-building activities, cover for staff absences, and support weekend programs as needed.
- Propose and implement enhancements to our nature spaces to support early years learning.
- Communicate professionally with parents and provide session updates.
Locations
- Wildlings @Dempsey Hill – A private jungle space in the heart of Singapore.
- Wildlings @West Coast Park – Located within a farm and utilising all of West Coast park
- Schools and other sites as needed for Nature Explorers Club and extracurricular sessions
The role will be approximately 80% working onsite on delivery, and 20% planning and administration.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience working with young children (18 months to 6 years) in a nature-based or outdoor setting.
- Competence in outdoor skills, such as nature crafts, woodworking, campfire management, and shelter building.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for connecting young children with nature.
Desirable:
- Level 3 Forest School Leader or equivalent qualification.
- Child or Wilderness First Aid certification.
- Training in green education or similar, such as the Green School’s Green Educators Course.
- Additional outdoor education or nature pedagogy qualifications.
