OverviewThe Senior Operations Supervisor (Housekeeping) plays a vital role in overseeing the operational aspects of SPD’s Hospitality Enclave Project under the Supported Employment Programme. This position is instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of the project, working closely with trainees, employers, and the supported employment team to achieve meaningful employment and independence for persons with disabilities.
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of relevant qualifications, work experience, and skillsets to effectively manage daily operations while actively participating in vocational training and job placement for trainees. Additionally, individuals currently serving as Room Attendants or Senior Room Attendants who aspire to advance into leadership or trainer roles in housekeeping are encouraged to apply. This role provides an opportunity to develop supervisory skills and contribute to the continued growth and success of the Hospitality Enclave Project.
Responsibilities- Project Implementation: Work closely with the supported employment team to operationalise and support enclave projects, ensuring timely and successful implementation and completion within stipulated project timelines.
- Management of Trainee Challenges: Demonstrate the ability to identify challenges faced by trainees and effectively communicate these to the relevant stakeholders for resolution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to provide recommendations and suggestions to improve trainees’ performance and address any issues that may arise during the training period.
- Attendance Monitoring: Track trainees’ attendance to ensure compliance with programme requirements.
- Performance Evaluation: Conduct monthly goalsetting and performance evaluation of trainees to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Provide regular updates on trainees’ progress during routine meetings with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment of expectations.
- Worksite Liaison: Collaborate with trainees’ reporting officers/supervisors at the project premises to address any matters relating to trainees’ performance or job duties. Promptly report any incidents or issues occurring at the premises for further action and resolution.
- Meeting Attendance: Attend meetings as required by the programme to provide updates and insights on trainees’ progress and other operational matters.
- Work Schedule: Able to accommodate to working hours according to the project site’s requirements to effectively oversee trainees’ activities and provide the necessary support.
- Operational Support: May be required to perform the duties of a Room Attendant (RA) as necessary to meet operational needs.
- Additional Duties: Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the overall success of supported employment projects.
Requirements- Minimum NITEC/Higher NITEC qualification. Prior experience in housekeeping (room attendant) duties.
- Experience in hospitality, job coaching, or working with people with disabilities will be an advantage.
- Able to recognize and resolve challenges at work with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
- Observant and able to track trainee progress, providing feedback and guidance where needed.
- Friendly and supportive, with good communication skills to guide and assist trainees in their roles.
- Proficient in computer skills and adept at using virtual platforms such as MS Teams for communication and collaboration.
- Adaptable to change and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders.
