Operations Manager (Container Depot)

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Operation Manager (Container Depot) in Cogent Container Depot Pte Ltd. As an Operation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the container depot. Your tasks will include managing container handling and storage, coordinating with customers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational guidelines, optimizing depot operations, and leading a team of depot personnel.

1. Responsible for all day-to-day depot operations
2. Ensure equipment is in good working condition and follow up on maintenance and repair, if any
3. Ensure that shipping and leasing customer’s KPI are met
4. Responsible for optimal yard planning, relocation, and allocation of containers
5. Ensure there is no delay at the gate and ensure smooth traffic flow at all times
6. Discuss and report to superior on any enhancements made to daily operations
7. Responsible for all outdoor tasks like container nomination, container measurement, make-shifting arrangement, etc.
8. Attend to any additional services which are non-routine in nature (such as container door cannot open, etc.)
9. Manage subordinates to achieve operational and service excellence and cost-effectiveness
10. Report to superior if there is any dispute, accident, or incident. Ensure the proper reporting and escalation of accidents and their corrective/preventive actions.
11. Conduct toolbox meetings daily
12. Attend the regular operations meeting with shipping agents to discuss operations work plan and implementation
13. Keep track of fixed assets and ensure depot facilities are in good order
14. Liaise with trucking team to improve trucking efficiency
15. Regulate the importance and priority of every job order assigned to the operations team
16. Liaise with vendors on container repairs/washing issues and ensure that they complete their jobs on time to meet our customers’ requirements
17. Ensure containers are repaired according to IICL/cargo worthy standards or other customers’ criteria
18. Identify safety hazards in operations areas and proactively eliminate any risks
19. Ensure staff work safely in a safe workplace
20. Any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time

Requirement

1. Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
2. Minimum 5 years in container depot operations
3. Strong knowledge and experience in container depot operations
4. Responsible individual who is diplomatic and possesses a high level of initiative and strong interpersonal and communication skills
5. Possession of IICL certification is an advantage
