Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Be part of the production leadership team, contributing to the formulation of departmental goals and strategies.
  • Gain technical familiarity with the production plant to support the team in enhancing safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support research and development initiatives in manufacturing technology within the plant.
  • Provide support for plant process operations to maintain safe, stable operations and high-quality products.
  • Manage and address Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) issues as they arise.
  • Review and address abnormality, non-conforming product, and accident/incident reports; support investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Plan and instruct operational non-regular work, providing training to supervisors and technicians through toolbox meetings.
  • Support regulatory requirements, including water efficiency management, energy conservation, and workplace safety.
  • Implement ISO 14001 by identifying and controlling environmental aspects, maintaining documentation, and monitoring significant environmental impacts.
  • Establish and maintain operating conditions, guides, check sheets, and log sheets in collaboration with shift teams to meet environmental, health, safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Administer and monitor the DCS system, ensuring changes and alarms are properly documented and optimized to prevent nuisance alarms.
  • Troubleshoot production and quality issues.
  • Train shift team members on new/revised procedures, providing operational guidance to achieve production goals.
  • Lead and support ASDM activities, including planning and executing various operational phases.
  • Provide leadership in production committees, supporting ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 implementation.
  • Address operational issues related to raw material supply changes or troubles.
  • Oversee process optimization and capacity improvement projects within the plant.
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) initiatives, ensuring action plans are implemented.
  • Implement cost reduction measures to lower production costs.
  • Analyze data to identify and address bottlenecks, improving product quality.
  • Support new product/process trials in collaboration with the technical department.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly Production Uptime reports, proposing solutions to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Monitor assigned capital expense projects, including documentation, approvals, and risk assessments.
  • Develop preliminary process designs, identify potential hazards, and liaise with vendors for quotes and specifications.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules, coordinating project execution and ensuring project completion with updated documentation.
  • Manage and verify production spares and consumables to support daily operations.
  • Coordinate calibration and repair of production tools or equipment.
  • Identify and develop improvement areas to maximize production rates while maintaining EHS and quality standards.
  • Evaluate production activities and recommend EHSQ and efficiency enhancements.
  • Provide engineering support for production and maintenance to achieve cost savings and improved efficiency.
  • Ensure shift teams adhere to existing process control parameters, liaising with engineers for necessary adjustments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot operational breakdowns, including human factors, and implement resolution plans.
  • Stay updated on engineering and production advancements, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Report unsafe operations and practices immediately.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense monitoring.
  • Adhere to EHSQ rules and collaborate with engineers to ensure safe, stable operations and high-quality products.
  • Develop operational strategies to achieve production and financial goals.
  • Establish new operating procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments to enhance production capacity and reliability.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience as an operations engineer in a chemical processing plant.
  3. Strong knowledge of chemical or mechanical engineering, or polymer science.
  4. Experience in process safety management and quantitative risk assessment (e.g., LOPA) is advantageous.
  5. SCEM or Steam Engineer/Boiler Attendant certification preferred.
  6. Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, SS506-Part 3, cost control, and regulatory compliance.
  7. Highly motivated, energetic, and willing to take on new challenges.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
