The Modern Trade Channel Director/Leadis responsible for driving sales growth and profitability for assigned key accounts within the modern trade sector. This role involves developing and executing effective sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maximize market share. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of FMCG sales, strong analytical skills, and the ability to negotiate and execute commercial plans successfully.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Growth: Develop and implement customer-specific sales plans in alignment with revenue and profitability targets, working closely with the reporting manager.
Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers at customer accounts, ensuring alignment on business objectives.
Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive assessments to identify new growth opportunities and stay ahead of industry trends.
Negotiation & Commercial Agreements: Negotiate and secure favorable commercial terms and trade agreements to drive business profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Merchandising teams to ensure smooth execution of sales strategies and customer initiatives.
Trade Spend & Compliance: Monitor and control trade spend within approved budgets while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Sales Performance Analysis: Utilize sales data and tools (e.g. Sales Data, NetSuite) to track performance, identify trends, and make data-driven business decisions.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the sales process to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Skills & Experience
Proven track record in sales and key account management within the FMCG industry, with at least 10 years of experience in Supermarkets, Convenience, or Western Pharma channels highly preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to engage with key stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience leveraging market data and trade math to define business opportunities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with NetSuite is preferred.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
