Job description

The Merchandising Executive is responsible for coordinating the product selection, display inventory and management processes. The role requires analyzing market trends, collaborating with suppliers, and ensuring that the right products are available at the right time and in the right quantities. This position is key to optimizing sales, ensuring customer satisfaction, and achieving business goals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Product Selection & Planning:
    1. Assist in selecting products based on individual market trends, customer needs, and seasonal demands.
    2. Ensure the right mix of products is replenished and stocked according to sales forecast.
  2. Inventory Management:
    1. Monitor stock levels to ensure sufficient inventory is available and avoid stockouts or overstock situations.
    2. Conduct regular stock audits and inventory reconciliation to maintain accurate records.
    3. Liaise with factories/logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and stock replenishment.
  3. Product Display & Presentation:
    1. Collaborate with visual merchandising team to create attractive product displays.
    2. Ensure product placement aligns with the company’s merchandising strategy.
  4. Market Research & Trend Analysis:
    1. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify emerging trends and customer preferences.
  5. Pricing & Promotions:
    1. Assist in setting competitive pricing for products while ensuring sales and gross margin profit targets are met.
    2. Collaborate with marketing and retail teams to plan and execute promotions, discounts, and special offers to drive sales.
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics partners and vendors to ensure smooth order fulfilment and delivery.
  7. Address any issues related to product quality, availability, or delivery timelines.
  8. Monitor sales performance of products and prepare regular reports on sales, stock levels, and customer feedback.
  9. Track and analyze product performance to make data-driven decisions.
  10. Identify and recommend actions to improve product sales and optimize product range.
  11. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
    1. Work with marketing, sales, and operations teams to align merchandising activities with overall business goals.
    2. Provide support for training sales staff on product features and benefits to ensure effective sales techniques.
    3. Partner and collaborate with team members from other locations like Hong Kong, China and New York.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Minimum 2-3 years in fashion merchandising, retail or related fields.
  3. Experience in fashion or footwear industry preferred although not a must.
  4. Has a flair in fashion and passion for retail.
  5. Good understanding of market trends and consumer behavior.
  6. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  7. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with effective time-management skills.
  8. Detail-oriented, good problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. Fluent command of spoken and written English and Mandarin.
  10. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), merchandising software and retail management systems.
  11. Required to travel as and when necessary for business.
