Job Description – Material Project Management (B3)

  1. Go-to focal point for the BU on all related materials shortages escalation (1st level escalation) and resolution.
  2. Forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers.
  3. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure. Reviews MRP on a regular basis to execute, cancel, pull in, push out, and prioritize planned orders.
  4. Identifies issues and escalates as necessary to materials management. Reviews and ensures actions per disposition of ECOs on a world-wide basis.
  5. Coordinates and works with Quality, Engineering, & Manufacturing Operations to ensure 100% on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedules to proactively identify and address any issues.
  6. Manages purchasing activities for materials shortages from each Business Unit (BU), working closely with Purchasing/Product Managers/Commodity Business Managers/Suppliers to ensure supply continuity to keep production lines running.
  7. Under some supervision, creates, releases, and updates new project materials strategy.
  8. Coordinates activities around source selection, specification creation, and price negotiation with appropriate team members.
  9. Maintains inventory levels per plan and performs E&Z analysis. Minimizes excess and zero demand inventory. Provides input to management regarding action plans to address long-term issues.
  10. Pulls and reads part specifications and engineering drawings. Utilizes knowledge of material types to communicate with engineers and suppliers. Provides feedback to engineering for cost reduction efforts.
  11. Manages materials change control process. Meets cost objectives and resolves quality issues. Generates and publishes Key Process Indicators. Tracks total landed costs targets.
  12. Works with engineering to identify preliminary critical parts, long-lead parts, and inspection requirements. Assists in developing supplier and commodity road maps to engineering. Utilizes value analysis on build-to-print components in support of Should Cost analysis.
  13. Maintains effective relationships with existing and develops potential suppliers for goods and services to meet established cost, quality, and delivery targets, including engagement with sub-tier in the supply chain.
  14. Participates and presents in all BU Operational/Production/War Room/Supplier Meetings (when needed for shortages resolution and escalation).
  15. Able to work independently and prioritize job duties, as well as prepare cost analyses to review with the Purchasing Manager.
  16. Ability to communicate with all people involved in the material execution process and deal with any problems that may arise.
  17. Math skills and good attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate, avoiding unforeseen losses for the company.
  18. Ability to work and lead the team.

Functional Knowledge

  1. Demonstrates in-depth understanding of concepts, theories, and principles in own job family and basic knowledge of other related job families.
  2. Knowledge in SAP, supplier collaboration, and activities pertaining to purchasing processes.

Must possess a strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite and be able to create specialized spreadsheets through Excel.
