BLOCK71 Singapore is preparing for the next phase of growth. We've incubated 12 unicorns, along with hundreds of other startups since our inception in 2011. As we look into a new era, we are redefining the ways BLOCK71 Singapore supports and interacts with founders and the startup ecosystem at large.

To support this transformation, we are looking to onboard a Marketing Manager to help enhance BLOCK71 Singapore's brand reputation at all levels: globally, domestically, and within the startup community. This person should have a solid operational understanding of marketing campaigns, be creative, have a passion for supporting founders, and most importantly, dare to push boundaries in a structured organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Brand Management: Interpret the central brand guide and develop localised applications across organic and paid channels. This means having a solid understanding of how media planning works and being strong in performance analysis to optimise for the best results.
  • Content Creation: Develop content customised to the unique traits of each platform. For example, a LinkedIn post should 'feel' different from a newsletter; a press release should be different from a message blast to our founders' community. In other words, possess sensitivity to media consumption patterns and have a knack for adaptation.
  • Market Research: Be in tune with the latest developments of the startup world and advise Product, Community, and Programmes teams on the best ways to structure their output so that BLOCK71 Singapore remains at the forefront of meeting customer demands.
  • Event Planning: Support community managers with communications plans to drive registration and participation of various events such as demo days and workshops.
  • Partnership Collaboration: Co-create marketing initiatives with ecosystem partners to create win-win partnership outcomes.
  • Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve marketing objectives.

Qualifications

The role is best suited for an outgoing personality who enjoys interacting with people, especially with startups and entrepreneurs.

This person writes well, is conversant with different communications channels, has wide interests, and high energy levels. He/She is constantly on the lookout for new ideas and excited about opportunities to experiment and learn.

He/She functions well in a fast-paced environment, where change is constant, and is able to grasp business needs well, adapting marketing activities to suit.

A team player who enjoys originating and executing creative marketing and communications campaigns to build a strong brand and community.

A marketer who understands that marketing is more than just communications, but also advocates for a seat at the product development table.

Technical Competencies

  • Degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in marketing, preferably in startups or the startup ecosystem
  • Proven experience in event planning and community development
  • Strong business acumen and solid understanding of the startup development landscape of Singapore
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Expert in optimising online and offline marketing channels
