Marketing Director – APAC

Based in India, Singapore or Malaysia/ Southeast Asia (SEA), with occasional regional and global travel.

37.5 hours, full-time.

Reporting to: VP Marketing, International Higher Education

Purpose

We are seeking an exceptional, visionary Marketing Director to drive Pearson Higher Education’s growth in the APAC region overseeing India, Southeast Asia (SEA), and Australia/New Zealand. This pivotal role is ideal for a strategic leader who can accelerate growth in our established markets and boldly position Pearson as a recognized, trusted brand in emerging markets. In this role, you will champion our mission, bringing your expertise in marketing to amplify our impact and drive business growth in one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

As the Marketing Director for APAC, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Pearson by crafting and executing powerful B2B and D2C marketing strategies that directly drive sales and generate quality sales leads. You will lead integrated campaigns that raise brand awareness, foster engagement, and build advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Marketing Leadership: Own and drive the marketing strategy across India, SEA, and Australia/New Zealand. Position Pearson as a leading education brand by developing marketing strategies that resonate with local audiences while aligning with global objectives.
  2. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a high-performing regional marketing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and growth.
  3. Integrated Campaigns: Develop and execute innovative multi-channel marketing campaigns tailored to both mature and new markets, driving brand recognition, customer engagement, and sales growth across the region.
  4. eCommerce & Digital Transformation: Lead regional eCommerce initiatives, focusing on improving online performance, driving sales conversions, and enhancing the overall digital experience. Spearhead digital transformation projects and leverage data, SEO, PPC, and CRO strategies to achieve online growth.
  5. Performance Optimization & ROI: Optimize regional marketing budgets to drive maximum ROI. Use data-driven insights to measure and refine marketing initiatives, ensuring campaigns hit key performance targets.
  6. Market Penetration: Drive marketing strategies that support the successful entry and expansion into new markets across APAC. Develop a strong regional brand presence, ensuring Pearson stands out in emerging markets while growing its footprint in established regions.
  7. Market Insights & Trends: Stay ahead of regional market trends, cultural nuances, and emerging opportunities across APAC. Use these insights to craft relevant marketing strategies that resonate with local and regional audiences.
  8. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, product, and operations teams to ensure marketing efforts align with business objectives. Foster a unified approach to executing marketing strategies across the region.
  9. Stakeholder & Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior leadership, presenting performance insights, strategic recommendations, and a roadmap for marketing success in APAC.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in B2B and D2C marketing, with a proven track record of leading successful, data-driven, multi-channel campaigns that drive growth and brand awareness across diverse markets.

Strong leadership skills with experience building and leading high-performing regional marketing teams. Experience in influencing business decisions and shaping marketing strategies across markets.

Deep understanding of regional market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and cultural nuances across APAC, with a proven ability to adapt strategies for both mature and new markets.

Proven ability to manage regional budgets and drive ROI through effective marketing spend.

Creative and innovative, with the ability to think outside the box and drive growth through new and experimental marketing tactics.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Data-driven and analytical, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions.

A results-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a professional marketing qualification being an advantage.

Fluency in English; proficiency in additional language(s) spoken across APAC is highly desirable.
