Maritime GIS Manager

About the role
You are the subject matter expert in maritime Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and marine-related data, including hydrographic data. Familiarity with marine cartography is required.

What you will be working on

• Setup and manage the maritime geospatial database, including the development, updating, and production of derived maritime products.
• Evaluate data sources for maritime geospatial layers production to meet needs.
• Plan and manage the production of maritime GIS-derived products.
• Keep pace with the latest industry geospatial technologies, data sources, and governance standards to enhance workflows and data interoperability.
• Manage internal and external users, including Whole-of-Government (WoG) agencies, to source, collate, and provide marine-related information.
• Support national maritime-related matters.

Challenges

• Technical knowledge in GIS-related fields and the maritime domain.
• Using GIS to make products and recommendations to stakeholders on geospatial needs.

What we are looking for

• Education in Geography, GIS, or Marine Science/Science preferred.
• At least 3 years of work experience in a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and meticulous work.

Appointment will be commensurate with your experience.
