Play an active role in business development, identifying and pursuing new opportunities to expand our marine cargo portfolio.
Strengthen existing business relationships by way of a multi-tier approach.
Develop underwriting strategies and pricing models to ensure profitability while maintaining competitiveness.
Assess and evaluate marine cargo risks, ensuring coverage is aligned with client needs and company guidelines.
Review and negotiate terms and conditions for marine cargo policies with clients and brokers.
Stay updated on market trends, regulations, and industry developments to adjust underwriting practices accordingly.
Ensure that acceptable pricing and terms are determined within own underwriting authority and underwriting guidelines, on new business and renewals.
Ensure an acceptable loss ratio through coordinating account stewardship processes, loss control activities, tracking, and following up on large claims and related activity as required.
Ensure evaluation of facultative reinsurance needs and coordination as necessary within company underwriting and risk control guidelines.
Requirements:
ACII, ANZIIF or Degree/Diploma in Insurance.
Degree/Diploma in Business or Maritime with CGI.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in Marine insurance underwriting with direct intermediary engagement / technical underwriting. Knowledge of Marine insurance operations, underwriting procedures, and understanding of Marine Cargo classes, products, and policy wordings.
Understanding of risk assessment, laws, and legislation in relation to the marine insurance industry.
