The Role: Managing Editor, Chemicals Asia

The location: Singapore

The Role: We are seeking a Managing Editor to lead the Aromatics team, part of the Chemicals price reporting team based in our Singapore office. We are looking for a leader who is driven by results, and is willing to guide, mentor and motivate a team of editors responsible for publishing assessments, high-quality market content, and developing Platts chemicals assessments in Asia.

As a manager, you will empower and encourage individuals to realize their highest potential and be capable of leading and adapting to the needs of a diverse team. You will lead market reporting, collaborate with functional groups internally to drive consistent execution of Platts methodology and price assessments, and engage with external market sources to explain, evolve and refine methodology.

You will identify, develop, and execute assessment opportunities to drive growth in chemical markets. You will represent S&P Global Commodity Insights in industry events, conferences, face-to-face meetings, webinars, podcasts, or other interviews.

What We're Looking For:

Required Skills/Preferred qualifications:

  1. BA degree or higher in journalism or business preferred with approximately 6 years of reporting/writing/analytical experience; or a graduate degree in journalism, business, economics or finance; with 5+ years of reporting/writing/analytical work experience. Direct knowledge of the Chemicals markets is an advantage.
  2. Strong leadership ability which utilizes influence, and promotes team collaboration and development, as well as personal accountability. Ability to foster a team culture of high performance.
  3. Well-rounded communication skills that implement good listening techniques and good verbal skills. The ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  4. Strong at identifying improvements and efficiencies and implementing processes that continually promote productivity and quality improvements.
  5. Proven internal and external training capabilities. This position will be responsible for ensuring a consistent approach to methodology and training.
  6. Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, and adhering to regular deadlines.
  7. Strong numeracy skills as well as the ability to critically analyze data.
  8. Proven real-time news abilities. This position will be at times writing news and analysis on a real-time basis but will primarily be responsible for driving news in the team.
  9. Serves as a subject matter expert on more than one adjacent market. Proven public speaking abilities. This position will be an internal and external ambassador of what we do and must be an accomplished and confident speaker.
  10. Strong command of written and spoken English; fluency in Mandarin, or other regionally important languages is an advantage.
