Managing Director

Job Overview:

The Managing Director (MD) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and financial performance of the company, which specializes in the trading of iron ore and other commodities. The MD will oversee global operations, manage key stakeholder relationships, drive business growth, and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Business Development

• Develop and implement long-term business strategies to expand market share in iron ore and other commodities.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including emerging markets and strategic partnerships.
• Monitor global commodity trends, geopolitical risks, and economic factors affecting the industry.

2. Trading & Supply Chain Management

• Oversee procurement, logistics, and supply chain operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and shipping companies.
• Manage commodity price risks through hedging strategies and financial instruments.

3. Financial Performance & Risk Management

• Ensure profitability by optimizing pricing, cost structures, and trading margins.
• Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and capital allocation.
• Implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to market fluctuations, currency risks, and regulatory changes.

4. Operations & Compliance

• Ensure all trading activities comply with international trade laws, regulations, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards.
• Drive digital transformation and operational efficiency through technology and process improvements.
• Establish and enforce policies for ethical trading and corporate governance.

5. Leadership & Team Management

• Build and lead a high-performing team, including traders, logistics specialists, and finance professionals.
• Foster a results-driven and innovative company culture.
• Represent the company in high-level negotiations, industry conferences, and government relations.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, International Trade, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in commodities trading, with a strong background in iron ore.
• Proven track record in P&L management and business growth.
• Strong understanding of global markets, supply chain logistics, and financial instruments.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and geopolitical risks.
