Kambara Kisen Co., Ltd., established in 1903 as a coastal shipping entity based in Hiroshima, Japan, is the root of Kambara Kisen Singapore Pte. Ltd.

As the main stream business of Kambara Kisen Co., Ltd. shifts to the ocean-going arena, the group demands a multinational ship management team to render quality services to esteemed business clients.

Singapore, a premier global hub port connected to more than 600 ports in over 120 countries, has developed one of the strongest maritime clusters in the world. We tackle safe vessel operations with particular emphasis on ship-owning business supported by our nautical/technical experts while securing the confidence of customers and community members. Kambara Kisen Singapore Pte Ltd, established in 2012, was incorporated as an independent shipowning arm of Tsuneishi Group, adding three bulk carriers to our fleet. The three vessels, all newly constructed since 2021, are equipped with cutting-edge technology and designed to meet the highest environmental standards.

With the increasing reputation of our ship management unit, Union Marine Management Services Pte Ltd, we have seen a significant increase in the number of vessels entrusted by third-party vessel owners, bringing the total number of vessels under management to over 80.

Responsibilities and Duties for this Position:

  1. Oversee regional work scheduling and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  2. Communicate project status to project participants and stakeholders accurately and on time.
  3. Monitor and motivate employees, ensuring they have sufficient resources and skills to carry out their duties.
  4. Develop and implement solutions to correct any deviations or issues that may arise.
  5. Establish, develop, and maintain positive business relationships with both existing and potential clients.
  6. Identify, communicate, and manage all issues and risks affecting the projects.
  7. Monitor and coordinate the work effort of all project participants, including managers, consultants, accountants, and ship operators, ensuring compliance with the project budget, schedule, and development guidelines.
  8. Build strategic relations and partner with key industry players to benefit the business.
  9. Coordinate with various service providers including ship operators, trading houses, and insurance companies.
  10. Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to acquire new project opportunities and expand the company's business in the region.
  11. Negotiate with clients, ship operators, and Japan Headquarters.
  12. Expand skillsets and improve work knowledge by preparing for and actively attending the Company's internal workshops and reviews.
  13. Look after the welfare of all employees regardless of race, language, or religion.

Job Requirements:

  1. Extensive knowledge in chartering, financing, ship/crew management, and marine insurance management.
  2. Practical experience in sale & purchase of vessels.
  3. Skills in leading a company and managing ship operations.
  4. Excellent communication skills for convincing HQ, clients, and other stakeholders.
  5. At least 5 years of experience in the same industry.
  6. Proficiency in spoken and written Japanese and English is highly desirable.
  7. Ability to spearhead all aspects of staff development and management.
  8. Ability to implement risk-management techniques to promote organizational stability.
  9. Ability to prioritize work assignments and adapt to changing environments.
  10. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  11. Excellent relationship management skills and openness to feedback.
  12. Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  13. Excellent project management skills and proven ability to effect change.
  14. Ability to think critically and analytically for strategic planning.
  15. Ability to focus on client's needs and provide excellent service.
  16. Strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations and law.
  17. Excellent stamina and perseverance to handle busy work schedules.
  18. Strong grasp of industry and market requirements to efficiently expand and grow the business.
  19. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  20. Ability to excel under pressure in a highly demanding environment.
  21. Attention to details.
  22. Able to work well with people from various countries and at all levels.
  23. Professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
