Oversee and manage daily transport operations for the Food & Groceries Delivery account, ensuring smooth delivery schedules and compliance with customer requirements.
Lead and manage a team of drivers ensuring optimal resource allocation and vehicle utilization.
Supervise transport coordinators in jobs scheduling and communication with drivers.
Manage the fleet to ensure vehicle maintenance, servicing, and compliance with, safety, legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor transport KPIs, such as on-time delivery, vehicle utilization, and cost-per-delivery, and drive continuous improvement.
Manage cost efficiency to meet KPI.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and contractors to maintain fleet readiness and reliability.
Safety & Compliance
Manage risk by implementing and monitoring driver safety programs and ensuring drivers are equipped with proper safety gear.
Investigate any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective measures and reporting as necessary.
Technology & Process Improvement
Propose and lead initiatives for process improvement, automation, and digitalization in transport operations.
Leverage data analytics to enhance decision-making, improve delivery times, and reduce operational costs.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with external transport vendors, ensuring that service quality and cost-efficiency meet operational needs against agreed SLAs.
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including customer service teams, vendors, and customers to resolve operational issues.
Negotiate contracts and performance terms with vendors to ensure alignment with service expectations and budget constraints.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
5 years of experience in transport management, preferably within the food and groceries delivery or FMCG sectors, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role, with a proven track record in managing teams and achieving operational KPIs.
Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills.
Experience with fleet management systems and route optimization tools.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in coaching and developing teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision-making, with the ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements.
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with flexibility for weekend or after-hours shifts during peak periods.
Valid Class 3 or higher driver’s license will be advantageous.
