The job holder will conduct preliminary reviews of applications for ethics approval that are submitted by researchers to the NUS-IRB. He/she will ensure that approved research projects conform to Singapore's laws and regulations (e.g., Human Biomedical Research Act, Medicines Act, Personal Data Protection Act, Penal Code, etc, and related Regulations) and to NUS' policies (e.g., DMP, RDMP, etc). The job holder will be responsible to provide secretariat support to the NUS Institutional Review Board (NUS-IRB) and manage the ethical review, the approval processes and follow-up of all human research studies conducted in NUS.
Role As IRB Preliminary Reviewer
• To conduct preliminary ethics reviews for NUS research studies to ensure they comply with Singapore's regulations and in accordance to NUS' policies and guidelines.
• To be a resource person for NUS researchers, study personnel and administrators by answering questions related to their IRB applications.
• To participate in the development and subsequent implementation of institutional human research protections' policies, procedures and guidelines.
• To provide administrative support within the department and for other NUS departments regarding research compliance matters and ethics review.
• To maintain IRB study-related documentation in accordance to NUS policies on data security and protection.
• To meet expectations and timelines of the stakeholders involved in the ethics review process.
• To perform any other ad-hoc job-related duties as assigned.
1. Minimum Bachelor's Degree. Preferable fields include Science/ Life Sciences/ Health Sciences/ Pharmacy/ Medicine/ Nursing/ Psychology/ Social Work/ Sociology/ Liberal Arts and similar from an accredited university. Entry level graduates, MSc holders and those with an interest in research ethics/ human welfare protection are welcome to apply.
2. Possess strong oral, written communication and interpersonal skills in order to manage cross-functional, institutional relationships and ability to multitask.
3. Proficient in the use of MS office applications.
4. Able to work independently and effective, as well as part of a team.
