The Opportunity
AECO Energy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Commodities Manager to lead our Environmental Commodities Group and offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing industry.
The Role
The Environmental Commodities Manager is responsible for the global sourcing, purchasing, redemption, and inventory coordination of environmental commodities. In addition, the role involves preparing tender responses, maintaining market intelligence, and working closely with the sales team to respond to customer needs. This role demands a candidate with in-depth knowledge of environmental commodity markets, a comprehensive understanding of relevant sustainability standards, and proven expertise in developing and executing strategic procurement strategies to ensure responsible sourcing while optimizing cost-effectiveness.
Reporting Line
Key Responsibilities
✓ Lead and develop the Environmental Commodities Group, setting strategic direction and growth initiatives in this evolving sector.
✓ Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality environmental commodities that meet regulatory and customer requirements.
✓ Source, build, and maintain long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.
✓ Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure cost-effective procurement and contractual compliance.
✓ Coordinate with the Team Leader to manage and update the inventory of environmental commodities using Mercury, our proprietary inventory and management system.
✓ Develop strategies to optimize the commodities portfolio and mitigate risks associated with expiry and market fluctuations.
✓ Monitor market trends, pricing, and regulatory changes affecting environmental commodities.
✓ Prepare regular reports detailing inventory levels, financial performance, and redemption outcomes to support strategic decision-making.
✓ Assist in the preparation and submission of tender responses focused on environmental commodities.
✓ Ensure that tender proposals are comprehensive and meet all technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements.
✓ Leverage market data and commodity models to produce competitive and compliant proposals.
✓ Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with ISO 9001 quality standards and company policies.
✓ Provide general office support to ensure timely service delivery and adherence to workplace health and safety measures.
✓ Work closely with the sales team to understand and respond to customer needs, ensuring tender responses and proposals are aligned with market demands.
✓ Supply the sales team with up-to-date market intelligence, product updates, and regulatory changes to enhance customer proposals.
✓ Develop a deep understanding of market trends, products, and regulatory changes related to environmental commodities.
✓ Proactively communicate these insights to relevant internal stakeholders to drive competitive positioning.
✓ Evaluate current procurement and inventory processes, recommending and implementing improvements to maintain a competitive advantage.
✓ Collaborate with IT, compliance, and risk management teams to refine procedures and enhance system capabilities.
✓ Ensure all tasks are executed in compliance with legal and statutory requirements, company policies, and workplace health and safety measures.
✓ Uphold best practices and ethical standards as outlined in “The Power Choice Way.”
