LUW UPSTREAM UNDERWRITER, ENERGY
Job Summary:
To build and develop the regional Upstream Energy portfolio as part of the Energy and Power team. Contribute to a profitable portfolio of Energy and Power business by developing an understanding of Upstream Energy underwriting principles and disciplines through discussions and research. Drive the growth objectives of the portfolio by identifying opportunities and performing delegated tasks. The candidate will be a key component of the Regional Energy team focusing on Upstream Energy both operational and construction risks and benefit from training, travel opportunities and mentorship at both a branch and international level. The position reports into the Regional Head of Energy, Singapore.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, manage and develop an Exploration and Production risk portfolio, both operational and construction.
- Manage workflow for receipt and tracking of all submissions in line with HDI triage procedure and response back to brokers/cedants accordingly within an allocated timeframe.
- Underwriting analysis for new and renewal business. Collating, analyzing and presenting data for Underwriter review, including:
- Completion of rating template in line with agreed processes and standards following assessment of underwriting submission.
- Creation and management of MS Teams workflow for HRC evaluation.
- Nat Cat modelling files are inputted into in-house modelling software.
- Accurate appraisal of named insured, cedants and broker to ensure compliance with international Sanctions.
- Upstream accumulation management.
- Management of regional portfolio of North Africa, Middle East (MENA), India, Asia and Pacific (APAC).
- Regular and ad-hoc engagement with other key functions of the business including Claims, Natural Catastrophe Modelling, International Programs, HRC (Risk Engineering), Finance (Credit Control) and Operations.
- Handling and developing current administrative functions including:
- Account and portfolio performance reporting.
- Maintaining accuracy of risk records and adherence to internal best practices.
- Endorsement review and action where applicable.
- Be an ambassador for HDI via client servicing and relationship management with new and existing distribution partners.
- Support and work on projects with the Regional Head of Energy, as required.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in any discipline.
- Possess or are working towards an insurance qualification from ACII, AAII, ANZIIF or SCI.
- 7 or more years of relevant experience in a reinsurance underwriting function within specialty lines and handling international inwards programs.
- 5 or more years of Upstream Energy underwriting experience.
- Displays an interest in the Energy sector and a desire to develop their knowledge of the class of business.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Upstream Accumulation software systems.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
- Willingness to participate in the development of the HDI Singapore branch.
- Singaporeans or PRs preferred.
