Job description

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for managing and reviewing warehouse operational policies, standards, and procedures in accordance with warehousing business and customers' needs. He/She is also responsible for managing warehousing business resources, including manpower, internal assets, and external vendors.

Resourceful and systematic, he/she is required to manage resources and obtain buy-in among internal and external stakeholders. He/She is also expected to lead a department and make business decisions independently.

Tasks

  • Communicate to the warehouse department the importance of achieving cargo handling timeframe outcomes with efficient use of resources.
  • Determine warehouse storage system strategy using knowledge of changes in conditions, operations, and the environment and its impact on outcomes.
  • Develop warehouse operations performance goals using quality management knowledge.
  • Drive Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) activities to ensure department compliance with requirements.
  • Formulate and review incident or crisis management plans to ensure gaps are mitigated.
  • Formulate mitigating actions or contingency plans for risks associated with process changes.
  • Influence behavioral changes to resolve areas of non-conformance to WSH standards.
  • Lead WSH discussions to improve existing processes.
  • Lead and review warehouse planning methods, warehouse storage, and layout plans.
  • Manage resources to ensure cargo handling schedules are met.
  • Manage safety and health risk assessment.
  • Manage the impact of changing industry standards or sector requirements in cargo documentation.
  • Manage the performance level of equipment.
  • Review business processes improvement solutions to determine effectiveness.
  • Review methods and techniques to better manage time and temperature sensitive cargo.
  • Review warehouse operations through application of supply chain and business management principles.
  • Review warehouse strategy for alignment across different functions.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years in warehouse management, of which a minimum of 3 years in managerial and people management roles.
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects.
  • Proficient with warehouse management KPIs.
  • Experience in managing delivery fleet will be advantageous.
  • Pleasant, eloquent, team player, and task-oriented.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the implementation of warehouse management systems is advantageous.
  • Possess a Class 3 driving license and forklift license; additional Class 4 driving license is advantageous.
