Job description

Objective:

This role supports business projects related to material/product handling equipment implementation for warehouse setups within the APAC regions. The successful candidate is expected to provide consultation on optimal logistics automation operations tailored to meet customer needs by proposing and implementing cost-effective logistics automation solutions to continuously enhance organizational performance.

With a deep understanding of logistics automation processes, the incumbent will lead projects by providing professional consultation and support in strategy development and establishing roadmaps for logistics automation services.

Job Responsibilities:

Logistics Project Planning and Implementation Management

  • Propose the right logistics automation solutions that comply with customer requirements, aiming to fulfill quality goals, service standards, and inventory accuracy.
  • Execute the plan from sourcing, feasibility testing, technical assessments, and purchasing of warehouse automation equipment to setting up new warehouse operations.
  • Work closely with Logistics Systems Integration Engineers to develop and maintain an automation technology database that tracks capacity, costs, and system connectivity.
  • Plan and manage the entire implementation project timeline, budget, and resources.
  • Conduct user training for key personnel.

Enhancement of Logistics Automation Process

  • Define KPIs and evaluate the performance (achievement rate) of applied automation equipment.
  • Identify process exceptions, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements.
  • Monitor and report on operational status, including efficiency, ROI analysis, and productivity, to senior management.

Logistics Automation Consultation

  • Identify new automation technologies (software and hardware) and keep abreast of the latest market trends, while developing relevant strategies.
  • Conduct operational simulation analyses to strengthen logistics capacity by adopting optimal automation solutions for customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as suppliers, technology consultants, and equipment suppliers.
  • Support regional headquarters with other logistics automation optimization assignments as required.

Requirements:

(a) Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain & Logistics Management, or a related technical/engineering field.

(b) Experience (Mandatory)

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in a global logistics environment.
    • Note: Minimum 6+ years of experience required for Master’s degree holders.
  • Prior experience in global freight forwarding with expertise in designing and setting up automation solutions (ASRS, AGV, DPS, DAS, etc.) in a logistics environment.
  • Deep understanding of global logistics automation and warehouse management systems (WMS/WCS).
  • Proficient in logistics automation simulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to select optimal options and implement automation solutions.
  • Experience in warehouse layout design using tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or CAD.
  • Experience managing end-to-end projects.

(c) Skills

  • Experience in developing and applying new technology for logistics automation.
  • Familiarity with logistics center operations.
  • Proven experience leading projects using simulation software such as Automode, FlexSim, or Arena.
  • Experience conducting optimization (operations research) projects.
  • Strong financial acumen with respect to ROI and cost savings.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with relevant technical standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Hands-on experience in operations management is a plus.
