Job description

UWCSEA East Campus is looking for a Local Service and Sustainable Development Officer to join in April 2025.

The Local Service Officer’s primary role is to build and sustain meaningful partnerships with Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs), such as non-profit childcare, intellectual disability and active aging centers. Reporting to the Heads of SSD (Primary, Middle, and High School), the Officer collaborates with staff, students, and VWO partners to effectively administer and support the Local Service Program.

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, professional administrative experience, an understanding of social issues in Singapore, and preferably a background in or experience working or volunteering with social services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build close partnerships with Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWO) through regular communication with VWO staff members and visits to centres.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and logistical support for the local service program, including but not limited to venue bookings, transportation arrangements, resource organization and managing student sign-ups to local service groups.
  • Gather and report feedback from service partners, students, and teachers to the Heads of Service, with the goal of measuring program impact, driving improvements, and fostering innovation.
  • Lead whole-school community outreach events, such as donation drives and celebration activities for local partners.
  • Actively participate in local service sessions whenever possible maintaining a visible presence to serve as a resource to VWOs, staff, students and teacher facilitators.
  • Collaborate closely with the whole Service & Sustainable Development Team to support the K-12 Service and Sustainability program as needed.
  • Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College.

Person Specifications

Preference for Candidate with:

  • Diploma holder in any related discipline, such as Social Services, Service Learning & Development, Education.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience (e.g office administration) ideally in an educational or social services environment.
  • Preferred at least 2 years hands-on experience volunteering or working with/at VWOs in Singapore.

Skills & Qualities

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong intercultural understanding and able to engage with people from diverse cultures.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and excels at managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to coordinate events or manage projects effectively while adhering to deadlines.
  • Energetic, collaborative and flexible team player who can problem solve and lead initiatives in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Keen learner with a growth mindset, eager to improve themselves and the SSD programme.
  • Excellent English (written and spoken), interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Strong aptitude for quickly learning and applying IT tools and systems.
  • Fluency in a Singaporean language is an advantage (Malay, Mandarin and Tamil).
  • Proficient in Mac platform and Google suites.
  • Excited to work with children from K-12 in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Believes that children from age 4 through to 18 can be empowered to be the change, and is excited to be part of a team dedicated to supporting SSD projects.
